Open Space is land that is largely free of residential and commercial development. It contributes to the town and country's unique rural character. We are dedicated to the protection of open space in Putnam County.

OUR PURPOSE

We are a citizens not-for-profit organization, committed to the preservation of environmentally and ecologically sensitive land, culturally and historically significant sites and structures and sustainable development attuned to town character, infrastructure aesthetics and environment requirements.

OUR MISSION

We, the Putnam County Coalition to Preserve Open Space, are dedicated to ensuring the protection in perpetuity of aesthetically pleasing, environmentally sensitive, ecologically endangered and historically, educationally and culturally prized lands. Through the educational and political process, we seek to inform residents of Putnam County, provide technical assistance to state, county and town officials on funding options and proactive measures ensuring such protection. Further, we endeavor to form partnerships with organizations whose goals are consistent with those of the coalition and will mutually support, where possible, their efforts towards open space preservation.
